Chris Gossard
Chris grew up in Bellmawr, New Jersey. She graduated from Triton High School in 1989 and then went on to attend Rutgers College and Helene Fuld School of Nursing. She became a Christian in her early 20’s and grew up spiritually in First United Methodist Church in Collingswood, New Jersey. Her ministry focus at FUMC was children, youth and small group development. In 2004, Chris, her husband and her children moved to Sicklerville, New Jersey. She and her family began attending SUMC in 2005 after her husband attended a blood drive and they received, in the mail, a SUMC postcard advertising VBS.
Chris has been working as a registered nurse, at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, for the past 14 years. She has cared for some of the sickest cardiac children in the world. In addition to providing bedside care, Chris was involved in the planning, developing and implementing of education programs for children, families and the staff at CHOP.
In June of 2009, Chris stepped out in faith when the Lord called her into Children and Family ministry at SUMC. The Lord has given Chris a passion to provide children and families with a sense of God’s presence through the demonstration of love, guidance and acceptance. A child’s foundation of spiritual growth and development must be firmly established in Christ and it is this knowledge that has caused Chris to move out of the comfort zone and jump into the Holy Fire of Christ’s ultimate plan.
Chris and her husband Brad have been married for 12 years. They have 4 children and 1 grandchild. Life around their house is never dull. Family game and movie night are often celebrated. Look out the competition is fierce!! In the summer you will find them in the swimming hole or around the bonfire simply enjoying God’s provision and His marvelous creation.
