The Fall 2010 term runs from January 11, 2010 through May 10, 2010. The three hour-long courses take place each Monday evening from 7:00pm to 9:40pm in Room 14. Enroll by downloading a pre-registration form from our website.

Science and the Bible-The Scientific Case for Christianity

  • Focus: Is the Bible true? Did Jesus truly rise from the dead? Is Jesus who He claimed to be? Learn to dialog with the skeptics by answering these questions.
  • Objectives:
    I. The heart of the issue - Three great questions.
    
       A. Is the Bible true?
       B. Did Jesus truly rise from the dead?
       C. Is Jesus who He claimed to be?
    
    II. The Bible
    
       A. Case 1 - archeological proofs for Biblical reliability.
       B. Case 2 - fulfilled prophecy:  mathematical proofs for 
                   the scripture.
          1.  Probability theory and the probability of various
              prophecies
             a. practical illustrations of the unlikehood of the
                fulfillment of Scriptural prophecy for use in apologetics
       C. Case 3 – Genesis 1: the scientific proofs for the order
                   of Creation in Genesis.
     
    III. The Resurrection
    
       A. The difference between scientific and historical/legal proof
          1. The reason for skepticism
       B. The missing body
          1. The theories for how the body disappeared. 
             a. swoon theory
             b. theft by disciples
          2. When you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains,
             no matter how unlikely, must be true - the resurrection
    
    IV. Who is Jesus?
    
       A. The trilemma - Liar, Lunatic or Lord
          1. Why Jesus cannot be “just a good man”
          2. Why calling Jesus a lunatic is problematic
          3. Why accusing Jesus of lying is difficult
          4. Why take the extraordinary step of claiming Jesus is in
             fact God in the flesh
       B.  The difference between Jesus and the founders of any
           other religion 
    
    V.  Changed lives, the ultimate proof of Christianity

Bible Synthesis

  • Focus: Get a grip on the Bible like never before! Learn the content of Scripture and apply it to life using the unique Bible Synthesis study method
  • Objectives:
    • To understand the content of the books Ezra through Habakkuk
    • To understand each book as a whole
    • To understand each book in relationship to the other books
    • Learn to see Jesus Christ in all Scripture
    • Students will memorize a theme and basic outline for each book
    • Students will evidence personal application of the biblical truths to their lives
    • Help you more accurately interpret a given verse in light of the Bible book in which it appears
    • Once you learn a theme and basic facts of a book, you can think through the entire Bible without other helps
    • Learn how to grow closer to the Lord, when you hear what God is saying to you in section after section of Scripture
    • Learn how to pray more biblical prayers
    • Gain encouragement as you see that almost every Bible hero messed up big time, but many found forgiveness and restoration

Systematic Theology

  • Focus: Many lies and half truths are taught on T.V. and elsewhere by a preacher with a Bible in his hand, but what is the real truth? What is God really like? Will the Real God please stand up!
  • Objectives:
  • *  God makes Himself known
        o In Creation
        o In His Word
    * The Old Testament names of God
    * The attributes of God
        o The ones we like to hear
        o The ones that maybe hard to hear
    * The Trinity: biblical details  of the  Father, Son, Holy Spirit
    * The Virgin birth of Jesus Christ
    * The baptism & temptation of Jesus
    * Was Jesus really a prophet? a priest ? a King ?
    * Come and see the biblical evidence for these great truths and
      learn to share them with confidence.
